This bookmark was inspired by one of the beauties in Kitagawa Utamaro's Triptych of Courtesans and Children strolling along a riverbank in the historic city of Edo, modern-day Tokyo. Japanese prints depicting actors and courtesans and the world they inhabited are referred to as Ukiyo-E or the art of the Floating World. Widely sought after by collectors since the mid-19th century, Ukiyo-E is perhaps the most popular and best-known of Japanese art forms in the western world. Solid brass, electro-plated with gold finish, giclee print. 1 x 4" Packaged in an acetate sleeve with provenance card.
