About the SBMA Store

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art Store extends the Museum experience beyond the galleries by offering a thoughtfully curated selection of products that inspire discovery, creativity, and connection with art.

Our mission is to provide visitors and online guests with meaningful ways to engage more deeply with the Museum's exhibitions and collections through books, gifts, jewelry, design objects, and handcrafted goods.

The SBMA Store supports the Santa Barbara Museum of Art's exhibitions, programs, and educational initiatives through store proceeds. We are proud to feature a curated mix of products by innovative designers, contemporary makers, and regional artisans, with a range of price points to welcome visitors with diverse interests and budgets.

We especially welcome products created by California makers, particularly artists and artisans from Santa Barbara and the surrounding region. All products considered for the SBMA Store should reflect the values, mission, and artistic excellence of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.

Product Selection Guidelines

The SBMA Store focuses on functional, design-oriented products that enhance the visitor experience. We consider items such as:

  • Artisan-made gifts and home goods
  • Jewelry and wearable accessories
  • Textiles and fashion items
  • Children's books, toys, and educational products
  • Books and publications
  • Design-focused objects

The SBMA Store does not sell original works of art intended for gallery exhibition or collection. Products should be functional, thoughtfully designed, and aligned with the Museum's mission.

When reviewing new products, we consider several factors, including:

  • Connection to the Museum's collections, exhibitions, or educational programs
  • Quality of craftsmanship and materials
  • Alignment with the Museum's aesthetic and values
  • Visitor interest and relevance
  • Wholesale pricing and retail viability
  • Availability and production capacity
