The second most popular kit, the Natural Dye Kit, created by Toronto based textile artist Julie Sinden, guides you through the process of mordant dyeing, the most common type of dyeing with plants. It contains the pre-measured mordants and four different dyestuffs. The kit contains enough to dye a yard of fabric, a ball of wool, or an adult t-shirt, in EACH of the four shades - pink, purple, orange and yellow. It can be used to dye either solid or tie dye. Complete with detailed instructions geared towards an absolute beginner and take the mystery out of where to to begin on a journey with natural dyes.
Julie is an award winning textile artist originally from the quiet shores of Lake Erie, now living and working in Toronto. A lover of the fiber arts since she was a child, she studied textiles at the Kootenay School of the Arts, a small and eclectic school in the mountains of southeastern British Columbia. In 2018, she launched "The Love of Color, a place to celebrate color, plant dyes and making. She teaches dye classes at "The Workroom" in Toronto.
