This Indigo Kit, created by Julie Sinden, a textile artist based in Toronto, is the one that began it all, and is still by far the most popular. Created for folks who have always wanted to try the (centuries old!) technique of dyeing with indigo, but were intimidated by the process. The kit contains the pre-measured ingredients to create one organic indigo vat, with which you can dye fabric, yarn, garments, home goods in gorgeous shades of blue. The indigo is 100% plant based, and the process is nothing short of magical, as you watch the fibers turn from green to blue as they oxidize. it comes with detailed instructions aimed at an absolute beginner, which guide the user step by step.
Julie is an award winning textile artist originally from the quiet shores of Lake Erie, now living and working in Toronto.
