Beato Chocolates, a fair-trade certified chocolatier in Ojai, takes its name from artist and studio potter Beatrice Wood’s nickname. At the age of 57, she moved to Ojai and declared that she had found the "gold at the end of a long obstacle-strewn rainbow."
The 12 chocolate forms in this gift box are re-created from Wood’s abstract horse ceramic sculpture mold. Her small sculptures were created as both stand-alone pieces and integrated into larger vessels. Having settled in Ojai's Happy Valley, a picturesque region full of wildflowers and horse pastures, horses and elements of nature became reoccurring subjects of Beato's work. This box contains Beato Chocolate's signature 72% dark chocolate with fleur de sel.
