Ala Story was creative, generous and dedicated. In 1952, she became the second director of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. The Ala Story Collection of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art originated in her honor from gifts received by her. There are paintings, prints, and sculpture. Some are magnificent works of considerable scale, others are tiny intimate sketches.
