Our stoneware plate shows details from Roses, the celebrated still life by Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890). The appealing floral design highlights the artist's sumptuous rose petals and dark foliage on a pale green ground. This pretty ceramic plate with scalloped edges is an elegant choice for lunch or dessert.

In May 1890, just before his departure from the asylum in Saint-Rémy, the artist painted an exceptional group of four still lifes, to which the Museum's Roses, (and also Irises) belong. These stunning bouquets were created by Van Gogh as a thematic quartet.

Stoneware. 8 1/2 inch diameter. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
